Non-Western Therapies
Non-Western therapies refers to alternative health care methods, most of which originated in Asia. These methods have gained popularity in the west, largely because they do not involve surgery or artificially manufactured medications relying rather on herbs and non-invasive procedures. Some of these are acupuncture and acupressure which rely on regulating the the flow of "qi," (life force energy) through the body. These Oriental methods are based on thousands of years of traditional medicine and are not always approved of by scientific Western medicine.
