Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is a common behavioral disorder affecting both children and adults. The symptoms of ADD include trouble concentrating, trouble staying organized, and impulsive behavior.
If someone with ADD also has hyperactivity, they are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Examples of hyperactive behavior are trouble sitting still and the inability to play quietly or to listen without interrupting. These behaviors cause problems at school or work and at home, but the symptoms can be managed with psychotherapy and/or medication. Males are more likely than females to be diagnosed with ADD or ADHD.
