Ureters

The ureters are the two tubes that transport urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder. They are made of smooth muscle fibers and are around 10 to 12 inches long. The upper halves are found in the abdomen while the lower halves are situated in the pelvis. They have thick walls which can contract and propel urine.
