Sensory Register

The Sensory Register refers to the physiological point (eyes, ears, nose, fingers, skin) where information (sight, hearing, touch, smell, etc.) first enters the human information system (nervous system and brain). Once a sensory input enters the sensory register is creates electrochemical activity that creates a response in the brain that is followed by a physical response.

Due to the massive amount of information that constantly bombards the human senses, activity in the sensory register remains only as long as the involved nerves are actually activated and the brain sorts out the information that needs further attention.
