Psychogenic

Psychogenic refers to conditions and syndromes that are generated by the mind, without any true physical origins. The mind is capable of creating the illusion of pain as a means deluding the sufferer that he is experiencing actual discomfort or pain. For instance, a person who wants to get out of doing physical labor, can come to believe that he has a bad back. This can feel like genuine pain even though x-rays and other types of scans show nothing.
