OxyContin is a brand name of oxycodone, an opioid pain medication. This is prescribed to relieve severe and persistent pain such as the one caused by cancer. The side effects may include dry mouth, nausea, constipation, dizziness, and sweating. The serious side effects which warrant immediate medical attention include mood changes, abdominal pain, difficulty urinating, weight loss, fainting, seizures, severe drowsiness, and shallow breathing.
