Ocular Myopathy
Ocular myopathy is characterized by the wasting away of the eye muscles. This often involves the extraocular muscles which are primarily responsible for the movements of the eyeball and the upper eyelid. The hallmark is drooping eyelids since the eye muscles are too weak to lift the eyelid. Hence, an individual with this condition may seem as if he is looking straight ahead even if he is actually attempting to look up.
