Neuroticism
Neuroticism is a personality trait that is characterized by, and predisposes, affected individuals to negative emotional states such as depression, anxiety, anger, envy and guilt. These are people who do not deal well with stressors and are more likely to interpret life events negatively and have trouble dealing with frustrations. These types of people are more likely to present with depression, anxiety and panic disorders, phobias and substance abuse disorders. Neuroticism is classified as one of the big 5 personality types which are considered generalized sets of personality traits that are consistent over time.
