Narcomania

Narcomania is the compulsion to take narcotics such as morphine and codeine. It is also known as narcotic addiction. People with this pathological craving go to great lengths just to be able to take such drugs. For instance, in a known case a doctor had been secretly injecting himself with leftover morphine. Unfortunately, he died at the young age of 35 after a fatal overdose.
