NMDA Receptor

The NMDA receptor or N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor is a protein, embedded in nerve cell membranes, that receives signals from other nerve cells. Its main functions include facilitating the process of transmitting signals through a cell and the opening and closing of ion channels. NMDAs are believed to be fundamental in memory and learning processes.
