Meninges

Meninges came from the Greek word “meninx” which means “membrane”. The meninges are the three protective tissues in the brain and spinal cord. The three layers of meninges are the dura mater (tough and outer), arachnoid mater (middle layer), and pia mater (inner layer). Their main function is for protection of the central nervous system.
