Marianism
Marianism is the veneration of Mary, the mother of Jesus. This religious system emphasizes feminine virtues such as modesty, purity, and virginity before marriage.
Marianism may also refer to a cult which worships the Virgin Mary. This is based on the Catholic practice of devoting prayers, songs, and other pious acts to “the Blessed Virgin Mary." For instance, September 8 is commemorated as the “Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary”; some Catholic schools and establishments do not have classes or work on this day.
