Marathon Group
A marathon group is composed of individuals who come together over a short span of time to intensely brainstorm or discuss a certain concept, theory, or hypothesis. This encounter group often meets for around 7 hours to a few days to intimately address an issue or set of related concerns. As compared to meeting for more days or weeks, this approach seeks to have fewer interrupted sessions and promote more productive and open sharing. For instance, a group of psychologists, psychiatrists, life coaches, counselors, and therapists may meet for 2 days to brainstorm about addressing the unethical practices of mental health professionals.
