Lexical Agraphia

Lexical agraphia is an impairment in producing written language specifically characterized by difficulties in visualizing the letters that make a word, distinguishing homophones, and spelling irregular words. Generally, those with this condition do not present with language competence regarding grammar and sentence usage. This condition is associated with a damage to the brain’s left angular gyrus (responsible for transmitting visual information) and/or posterior temporal cortex (responsible for processing visual memory and language comprehension).
