Legal Blindness
Legal blindness is characterized by an uncorrected vision of 20/200 in their eye with the highest acuity. This means that what a person with normal vision can clearly see at 200 feet can be clearly seen by someone with legal blindness at only 20 feet. However, individuals with vision problems which can still be corrected to 20/20 through the use of glasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids are not considered legally blind. The causes of this condition include cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
