Iowa Test Of Basic Skills (ITBS)
Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) is also known as Iowa Assessments and was previously called Iowa Every Pupil Test of Basic Skills. This set of tests measure students’ (kindergarten through 8th grade) abilities in various areas such as Reading, Science, Math, Language Arts, and Social Sciences. The primary purpose of ITBS is to improve instruction as the results are helpful in guiding lesson and curriculum planning. These standardized tests were first administered in 1935 and developed by Everett Lindquist, Harry Greene, Ernest Horn, Maude McBroom, and Herbert Spitzer. The University of Iowa’s College of Education provides this assessment as a service to schools.
