Ibn Sina
Ibn Sina (c. 980 – 1037), known to Europeans as Avicenna, was a Persian scholar and was both a doctor and Islamic philosopher. An inveterate writer, he was the author of some 450 works on a wide range of subjects but unfortunately only about 240 of those have survived, including 150 on philosophy and 40 on medicine. His most well-known works are The Book of Healing – a philosophical and scientific encyclopedia, and The Canon of Medicine – a medical encyclopedia.
