Glucostats

Glucostats are special receptor neurons (glucoreceptors to be precise) in the brain that monitor and regulate glucose levels and their fluctuations in the bloodstream. Glucose is the sugar that is crucial in body chemistry to keep the muscles and nerves working properly but when the glucose level is chronically too high or low can cause problems such as diabetes or hypoglycemia.
