Gerophilia or gerontophilia came from the Latin words “gero” which means “old age” and “philein” which translates to “to love”. Individuals with gerophilia are attracted to older people or senior citizens. Hence, this is the opposite of pedophilia which is characterized by the attraction to children. The prevalence of gerophilia is unknown and case studies suggest that some gerophiles had early sexual experience with older partners.
