Geriatric Disorders
Geriatric disorders are age-related health conditions such as dementia, osteoporosis, arthritis, lung disease, glaucoma, and kidney problems. These are related to the common concerns of the elderly which include immobility, instability, impaired memory and/or intellect, and incontinence. Geriatricians, physicians who specialize in elderly care, aim to achieve healthy aging. As the elderly people’s physiological state is declining, a simple illness may compound without special attention. For example, constipation may lead to delirium which may also cause falls and injury.
