Genetic Marker

A genetic marker is a short DNA sequence or a gene utilized to specify a chromosome or to locate other genes. Since they have known physical locations, genetic markers can give clues on how traits or diseases may be connected to certain genes as neighboring DNA segments tend to be inherited together.
