Francis Bacon
Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1629) was an English statesmen, philosopher and scientist (amongst many other pursuits) who was one of the earliest proponents of the Scientific Method and has been called the Father of Empiricism. He was one of the first to utilize, and his written works popularized, physical observation and experimentation as a means of understanding the workings of nature and the world and was a major contributor to the scientific revolution of the 18th century.
