FOMO (aka, Fear Of Missing Out)
FOMO is the abbreviation of “fear of missing out” which is the anxiety that you may feel when you worry about not going to events, not knowing or not seeing trending issues or events specially via social media. For instance, a student may fear that he is not aware of the recent events so he is compulsively checking his Facebook feed and Twitter. This was initially researched by Dan Herman, a market strategist, in 1996. However, the acronym FOMO was coined by Patrick McGinnis in 2004.
