Endocannabinoids
Endocannabinoids are naturally occurring cannabis-like substances which are crucial in maintaining body homeostasis. They help regulate our appetite, digestion, immune system, mood, sleep, temperature, sensitivity to pain and pleasure, reproduction, and other mechanisms. They are produced on demand; for instance, endocannabinoids are detected causing the activation of immune cells due to an inflammation. Some studies have found out that a lack of endocannabinoids may be related with migraine, irritable bowel syndrome, and fibromyalgia. These substances are presently being tested to possibly treat chronic pain, Alzheimer’s disease, autoimmune diseases, and other conditions.
