Emotive Imagery

Emotive imagery is a therapeutic procedure which makes the client imagine emotion-stimulating scenes (positive or negative) within the security of a tranquil and protective ambience. This technique is often used in behavior therapy and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) . For instance, a girl has an irrational fear of cockroaches. She is then asked to close her eyes and relax on a comfortable couch; after a couple of minutes, she is asked to imagine that she is a foot away from the feared insect and that she is being courageously indifferent to it.
