Emancipation Disorder
Emancipation disorder, also known as emancipation disorder of adolescence and early adulthood, is characterized by being torn between the desire for freedom from parental control and the responsibilities of being emancipated. The symptoms include confusion, homesickness, being too dependent on peers, and wanting independence while asking for parents’ guidance. This condition is not included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM5); however, it is recognized by the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD 10).
