This is part of the process of increasing intimacy in a relationship, but works only when both parties of willing to share equally. This is part of the process that two people go through while moving from a casual dating relationship to an intimate relationship. Think about your closest friends - you didn't start out that close when you first met them. As time went on disclosure reciprocity occurred and you shared more and more information as you got to know each other.
