Ceramidase

Ceramidase is an enzyme that separates fatty acids from ceramide, a group of lipid molecules. This is found in most mammals' tissue and if it is lacking or missing, errors in metabolism would occur. For instance, Farber’s disease, which is characterized by progressive tissue damage, is caused by a deficiency or malfunction of ceramidase.
