Cell-Mediated Immunity (CMI)

Cell-mediated immunity (CMI) is an immune response which involves the direct action of certain T-cells, and other immune cells instead of the usual antibodies. Through CMI, specific cells and macrophages to destroy infected cells and strengthen adaptive and innate immune responses. It has also been effective in delaying transplant rejection.
