Beta Blockers
Beta blockers, also termed as beta-adrenergic blocking agents, are medications used to decrease blood pressure by opening up veins and arteries for better blood flow. They block the effects of epinephrine or adrenaline hormones which cause the heart to beat with less force. They may also be prescribed to treat or prevent heart failure, migraine, heart attacks, chest pain, and irregular heart rhythm.
Some of the examples include Atenolol, Bisoprolol, Nadolol, and Propranolol. Common side effects include fatigue, weight gain, and cold hands and feet. Rare side effects include insomnia, depression, and shortness of breath.
