Asthma
Asthma is a chronic condition characterized by breathing difficulties due to the narrowing of airways, wheezing, and coughing due to extra production of mucus. The other symptoms include chest tightness, wheezing or whistling sound when exhaling, and sleeping problems due to breathing difficulties and coughing. The triggers include strenuous activities, dust, gases, pollen, mold, pet dander, and cold and dry air, respiratory infections, medications, stress, and preservatives. The exact cause of asthma is still unknown and the risk factors include having a blood relative with asthma, having another allergic condition, being overweight, and exposure to pollutants or irritants. Patients with asthma are often prescribed with inhalers which help them breathe easier.
