Anniversary Reaction
The anniversary reaction is a statistical observation that people have a tendency to die in close proximity to their birthdays. Following a multi-national study, this affect was noted and appears to correlate with an increased use of alcohol and emotional distress that sometimes occurs in relationship to birthdays. This is particularly true of suicides and the terminally ill who have tried to "hang in" until that next birthday.
