Aniridia
Aniridia is the term that describes the absence of an iris in an eye. This condition can be congenital or the result of a penetrating accident damaging the eye. As a rare congenital condition, not limited to a defect in iris development, it is a condition associated with macular and optic nerve hypoplasia, cataract, and corneal changes. It is also seen as a part of such as WAGR syndrome (kidney nephroblastoma, also known as a Wilms tumor, as well as genitourinary anomalies and intellectual disability), and Gillespie syndrome (cerebellar ataxia).
