Alpha Motor Neurons

Alpha motor neurons are responsible for skeletal muscle contractions and movement. They are connected by their axon to form a junction with the extrafusal muscle fibers of skeletal muscle. These extrafusal fibers are the power behind the contraction of skeletal muscles. When the alpha motor neurons are activated the skeletal muscle fibers contract.
