Agitation describes a condition marked by restless and uneasy behaviors and feelings of tension, nervous excitement, and anxiety. It is an extreme state of that elicits feelings of unease, discomfort, and distress. Some individuals experiencing a state of agitation may exhibit hostility and uncooperativeness - this along with poor impulse control can sometimes lead to violent behavior against themselves or other people. Some antipsychotic medications can induce psychomotor agitation.
