Aetiological (etiological) validity should be considered when making a diagnosis of a patient and it means that sufferers of a disease or disorder should have the same causal factors. Aetiology is the study of origins and causes of a disease or disorder. For a patient to be diagnosed with a particular disease, they should have the same symptoms as others with the same disease.
