Addictive Personality
The term "addictive personality" refers to a hypothetical set of personality traits that gives a person a predisposition to addiction. Researcher Alan R. Lang of Florida State University authored an addiction study prepared for the United States National Academy of Sciences in which he proposed that "If we can better identify the personality factors, they can help us devise better treatment and can open up new strategies to intervene and break the patterns of addiction. If this hypothesis it should be possible to identify potential addicts and provide intervention services to derail this possibility in a person's life.
