Acupuncture is a type of traditional Chinese Medicine/healing that involves placing long, sharp needles into specific "meridian"points of the body. Theoretically this is meant to unblock the energy (Qi) channels of the body and permitting natural healing. Considered by western medicine a pseudoscience, it has achieved popularity in the west as a alternative means of pain control along with many other uses.
